A Cautionary Tale for Executives


This Monday, Judge Ricardo M. Urbina from the US District court of Columbia, sentenced Dr Andrew G. Bodnar, a former Bristol-Myers Squibb executive, to write a book.

Earlier this year Dr Bodnar pleaded guitly to making a false statement to the federal government about the company's efforts to resolve a patent dispute over the blood thinner Plavix. The judge sentenced him to two years of probation during which time he is to write a book about his experience as a cautionary tale to other executives. He must also pay a $5,000 fine.

Let's hope Dr Bodnar doesn't get writer's block — because who knows what other punishments this quirky judge has up his sleeves.
