Good to see people picking up on the fact that much of the innovation in pharma and biotech comes from smaller, specialty companies. Big Pharma seems to be moving further toward in-licensing later stage compounds and leaving discovery and early stage development to the smaller innovators, who can do it more efficiently. There's room for both models, and I believe that a strong small to mid-cap pharma and biotech sector is good for the industry overall, and especially good for big pharma when they need to go shopping for deals. Big Pharma has been building its pipelines through in-licensing and acquisitions from smaller players.
