The irony in the PBMs' complaint against co-pay cards is that it was their actions that led to these cards in the first place. By shifting the cost burden to patients via higher co-pays and, in the case of biologics, co-insurance that may cost patients $200 or more per month, PBMs have made it necessary for pharma firms to assist patients in affording the medicines they depend on.
