In an effort to improve the healthcare professional (HCP) experience, Align Biopharma, a life sciences industry standards group including eight of the top 20 global pharmaceutical companies, has released its first technology identity management standard.

The standard is available industrywide for review and comment, and it outlines the open technical requirements for registration, verification, and authentication processes that solutions should follow to enable a single sign-on service for HCPs. Align Biopharma’s goal with the standard is to improve the accessibility of information and online content on a range of websites, portals, virtual events, and webinars for life sciences companies.

Align Biopharma requests public review and input of the standard and, once received, will release the final standard in the summer of this year. All public review and input must be received by June 9, 2017 to be applicable. Input can be added at AlignBiopharma.org.

Align Biopharma expects to expand membership of its group in the future, as companies continue to offer resources to help create standards to benefit HCPs. While Align Biopharma seeks input for its first standard, it has begun to develop its second standard, related to consent and preference management, which is expected to be released for review and feedback later this year.
