Bristol-Myers Squibb announced that it has appointed Dr. Thomas J. Lynch, Jr., as executive vice president and chief scientific officer, effective March 16, 2017. He succeeds Dr. Francis Cuss, who will retire from the company. Dr. Cuss will step down from the Board of Directors, effective March 15, 2017 and serve as an advisor for the next three months.
Dr. Lynch worked for more than 23 years at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH); he served as chairman and chief executive officer of Massachusetts General Physicians Organization and as a member of the MGH Board from 2015 to 2017. He also served as the director of Yale Cancer Center and was the Richard and Jonathan Sackler Professor of Internal Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine from 2009 to 2015.
