Sir Allen McClay, the late founder of integrated contract development and manufacturing organization Almac has been posthumously honoured at Northern Ireland's first ever Craigavon Business Awards. Sir Alan's widow, Lady Heather McClay, was presented with the Special Recognition Award, which acknowledged the outstanding contributions he made to both the pharmaceuticals business and the local Northern Ireland economy.

The event also saw an award named in Sir Allen's honour, the 'Sir Allen McClay Young Business Person of the Year Award', go to Gareth Cairns, founder of a local agric engineering company.

Almac CEO, Alan Armstrong commented: "These awards are a tremendous credit to the business he founded and built. Almac looks forward to continuing Allen's creative ethos for driving innovation in the pharmaceuticals sector, whilst supporting the Northern-Irish economy."
