The word diversity is prevalent in human resources (HR) vocabulary. Companies have established offices of diversity, heightened awareness about it, and opened a dialogue about the issues of workplace heterogeneity. Yet, the results of those efforts are often hard to find in the hallways of corporate America. Although some women are likely to be seen around the conference tables, people of color are conspicuously missing.
