Joel Wayment, VP/GM of 3PL Services and Packaging Solutions at Cardinal Health, explains how this division has built an organizational structure designed to address the complex logistics challenges biopharma manufacturers face. They offer integrated services spanning warehousing, order fulfillment, and distribution. To tackle the growing demand for cold chain capabilities, the division has expanded its capacity to handle a range of temperature requirements, from 2-8 °C to deep frozen conditions, while simultaneously developing more sustainable shipping practices such as reusable shippers and recycling programs. The integration of Cardinal Health Packaging Solutions into the 3PL organization gave rise to a program aimed at moving products from FDA approval to patients within seven days, addressing the industry's need for speed to market. Further reinforcing this structure, the division is expanding its distribution center network with a new facility in St. Louis, Missouri, and continuing to grow its Exclusive Pharmaceutical Transportation Network (EPTN) to reduce product handling and improve supply chain efficiency.
