Franz Humer, former CEO and chairman of Roche, has joined BIAL, Portugal's largest pharma company, as a non-executive board member. Humer retired from Roche in 2014; he had served at the company since 1995. Before Roche he held management positions at Schering Plough and GlaxoSmithKline. Luís Portela, chairman of BIAL, said the board's incorporation of Humer is especially relevant as "a recognition of the work we have been developing." BIAL has products in more than 50 countries. International sales represent around 60% of its total turnover.
