Stand Up To Cancer returns on August 15. The biennial fundraising event is scheduled to occur in Nashville this year, which is a first for the program. As always, the event will see musicians and other performers take the stage alongside cancer researchers and survivors to raise funds for researching cures and treatments.

When is Stand Up To Cancer's Nashville event occurring?

With the move the Nashville, this year’s event will feature country artists, along with a variety of other performers. Dolly Parton is set to perform and Sheryl Crow will serve as the televised event’s host.

In a press release, Stand Up To Cancer’s co-founder Katie Couric says, “The goal of Stand Up To Cancer has always been about working collaboratively to push cancer research forward so we could help patients as quickly as possible. Nearly two decades later, it's incredibly gratifying and inspiring to see the impact of this research. Bringing the show to Nashville will infuse new energy and excitement into our mission. There's still so much work to do and every dollar makes a difference—especially to the families who are counting on novel approaches and therapies as they face the challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis."

Production company Done + Dusted’s managers David Jammy and Liz Kelly will executive produce the event. According to Kelly, the goal is the put on a show that is both entertaining and “deeply impactful.”

Jammy adds, “Nashville offers a unique and dynamic backdrop; it's a city that knows how to put on a show, and we're excited to channel that energy into a production that moves people to learn, act and give.”

In the same press release, Stand Up To Cancer’s president and CEO Julian Adams, PhD, also says, “We're honored to bring this year's telecast to Nashville and to celebrate the incredible stories of survivorship made possible by Stand Up To Cancer-funded research. The advancements we're making are driven by the ongoing generosity of our donors and the dedication of cancer researchers across the world. We are deeply grateful to the entertainment community and our broadcast partners for once again coming together in support of our mission to help spotlight this critical work."

Aside from fundraising events, Stand Up To Cancer also works directly with organizations to push cancer research.

In early June, the charitable organization announced a collaboration with SanboxAQ for the use of the AI’s company’s LQM models in cancer research.2 According to the two organizations, the driving goal of the partnership is to push the development of new cancer treatments. SandboxAQ’s platform uses AI and data modeling to detect early signs of the disease and predict the illness’ potential progression.

In a press release issued at the time, Adams said, “This is a pivotal moment in cancer research. We stand at the threshold of a new era, with emerging tools that have the potential to catch cancer earlier and treat it more precisely than ever before. SandboxAQ brings cutting-edge technology that complements our scientific network and collaborative model. Together, we can turn breakthroughs in the lab into more lives saved."

SandboxAQ CEO Jack Hidary added in the same press release, “We're excited to bring SandboxAQ's technologies to the fight against cancer. In collaboration with Stand Up To Cancer, we will support researchers with our AI LQM platform to model complex biological systems, and accelerate the translation of oncology research into patient impact. This collaboration brings us closer to a future where more cancers are cured."
