New Actos Trial Begins in Las Vegas

Article

August 28, 2015.

Takeda's Actos went on trial in Las Vegas, NV again yesterday, having been cleared last year of causing bladder cancer in two Nevada women. This time attorneys from law firms Eglet Prince and Kemp, Jones & Coulthard are arguing that Maurice J. Iorio (deceased) and Geroge Decou suffered severe effects after using the diabetes drug. Iorio died from bladder cancer complications in November 2013 and Decou is currently suffering from bladder cancer.   The stakes are high for the Japanese-headquartered company; last year a Louisiana jury awarded a $9 bn verdict in an Actos trial. Currently, Takeda is looking to establish a settlement with an estimated 8000 US plaintiffs who believe Actos caused their bladder cancer.
